WATER POLO

If you know how to swim and ball games seem challenging to you, join the water polo sessions at Stejarii Country Club!

Polo is a sport recommended basically for everyone. It combines the four basic techniques of swimming (bras, butterfly, crawl and back) with team sports (the existence of a team, the fight with the opponent for the ball), representing a perfect opportunity to have fun with your friends.

For children, polo contributes to the harmonious development of muscles and skeletal system, but also helps developing several important mental qualities (focus, team spirit, selflessness, competitiveness). Also, because of the low impact nature of playing a sport in water, injuries are significantly reduced by comparison with other sports outside the pool, so the kids are safe and do not experience general aches and pains associated with classical fitness classes.

Rules & Origins

Water polo is a team water sport where the players pass the ball while being defended by the opponents. Each team scores by throwing the ball into a net that is being defended by a goalie.

Water polo has been invented on 17th Century in India where British army officers were playing a water based polo called “pulu”. During the following centuries water polo made its way to Europe and oficially became an Olympic game on Paris Olympic Games in 1900.
